Up-to-the-minute News about the 2018 Cookie Program
Cookies are coming! When Girl Scouts come together for the fun, friendship and purpose of the Girl Scout Cookie Program, they are unstoppable! The 2018 theme for the world’s largest girl-run business is “Altogether Awesome!” and sales begin on Sunday, Jan. 28.
Local girls in the national spotlight! San Diego Girl Scouts are featured in Little Brownie Bakers’ nationwide marketing campaign (and throughout this email)! Look for our G.I.R.L.s (that’s Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, and Leaders) on the cookie order cards, websites, and sales materials.
Girl Scouts is powered by cookies! As our largest fundraiser, Girl Scout Cookies make possible troop and service unit activities, camps and other facilities, volunteer training, and the financial assistance that keeps Girl Scouting available and affordable for all.
Why should your girl participate? By participating in the cookie program, your girl will learn important life skills like goal setting and money management. All dollars earned stay local and help power new and unique experiences for her. Whether it’s a trip she’ll never forget, a service project that will change her community forever, or building a lifetime of memories at camp, the Girl Scout Cookie Program helps make Girl Scouting possible.
Cookie Business badges: Customized by program level, special
badge activities help:
Daisies learn how cookie money adds up and work with their troops to decide how best to use the proceeds.
Brownies grow in confidence as they meet new customers and learn how the cookie business helps others.
Juniors learn to manage their cookie businesses and gain a better understanding of their customers.
Ask your girl's leader which cookie-related badge the troop will earn.
Troop not selling cookies? Individual members of that troop may participate independently by completing an
interest form.
Be in the know: Check the Family Cookie Guide for all the details, including various ways for your Girl Scout to participate, fun cookie contests and more.
Getting started: To participate, girls must be registered members, with a signed cookie program participation agreement. Troops must have a registered adult troop cookie manager (TCM) who has completed cookie training and a background check. (Need a TCM? Consider volunteering!) Don’t forget: Digital participation is a great way for girls to participate! Use

Core cookie varieties
Our six core cookies — Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do-si-dos and Savannah Smiles — return at $5 a box.
Top 100 girls Back by popular demand: Girl Scouts San Diego’s top 100 cookie sellers will receive an exclusive keepsake coin! Every box can make a difference in a girl’s overall ranking, so she shouldn’t stop when she reaches a reward level.
Mystery House Contest Each service unit will have one or more secret Mystery House. The first Girl Scout who stops by each house while selling cookies will win a Mermaid Trinket Holder.
Lifetime Achievement Award To recognize the total number of boxes sold during their entire Girl Scouts San Diego cookie careers, girls earn certificates of recognition. These certificates for 1,000, 2,500, or 5,000 boxes sold entitle the recipients to purchase Lifetime Achievement patches that commemorate the milestones.
Check out our shops Our three store locations carry an assortment of cookie-related merchandise. The Cookie Party Pack ($30; includes activities, supplies, and a sample box of each core cookie variety) will help you host your own Cookie House Party.
Boost Operation Thin Mint℠ sales with our OTM support kit ($8). Find additional information and resources on our cookie webpages.
Help your Girl Scout learn about money and finances
Support her participation in the Girl Scout Cookie program, where she’ll practice valuable skills.
Encourage her to help with daily financial tasks like going to the ATM, paying bills, and shopping for food and other household necessities. This will help her learn the value of money.
Include her in “adult” conversations about money, budgets and financial decisions. She will better understand family finances and money matters, and be more prepared in the future to manage her expenses and make big decisions.
Teach her the difference between needing and wanting something. Help her develop a budget so she can save for a big item or experience.
